Topics for the night will feature:
#1 Quantum Physics – Peter O’Connor
Are we living in a spooky, random universe, where things influence each other instantly across cosmic distances? Or are we living in a scripted reality, where the universe actively conspires to give us the illusion of choice while sending us along a completely predetermined path? These are the two options left open to us by the most bizarre experiment in physics – the Bell experiment. Peter will be giving a layman’s introduction to this strange little experiment, its implications for free-will, and what it tells us about the nature of reality.
#2 Concussions – Andreas Stridsland, DC, DACNB
What is a concussion? Andreas is a Squamish based chiropractor specializing in concussions. He helps concussed people recover through neuro-rehabilitation, assessing and treating concussion/mTBI, post-concussion syndromes, vertigo/dizziness, headaches, and pain. In this presentation, he will talk about the main systems affected and common symptoms (oculomotor, vestibular, proprioception, autonomic) of concussions. His philosophy is that recovery is all about neuroplasticity. Learn more about concussions and how they affect brains!
#3 Poker – Scott
Poker & Business: An Unlikely Pair.
Scott explores the unexpected parallels between the strategic dynamics of poker and the complexities of the business world, highlighting shared principles such as risk management, decision-making under uncertainty, psychology, adaptability, and strategic planning. Through insightful analysis and real-life examples, Scott provides valuable insights into how lessons from poker can be applied to business and vice versa, equipping them with a deeper understanding of the strategic mindset necessary for success in both domains.
