Nerd Nite is a monthly event during which 3 presenters give an 18-minute fun-yet-informative presentation, each across all disciplines, while the audience learns along over beverages, food and friends!

October Nerd Nite brings topics of The Heart, ADHD and Bitcoin.

🫀The Heart – Cardiac nurse, Christina, will tell you about how the heart works, what happens if it doesn’t. And even how you can prevent getting a tattoo you might regret!

🧠ADHD – Bri, a special education teacher, will talk all about ADHD.

â‚¿ Bitcoin –  Joep explored Bitcoin’s roots and its impact on society. In this talk, he’ll attempt to offer a balanced take on whether a Bitcoin-dominated world is one he’d welcome or not.

Christina Dixon

My name is Christina and I’m a Registered Nurse. I would love to talk about “How does your heart work? And what happens when it doesn’t?” All things cardiac: with what actually is a heart attack, how the pumps and electronic work, and maybe how one can prevent getting a tattoo they might regret.

My background is cardiac nursing, now working in the ER, and I love to nerd out about all things heart!

_____

Brianna Craver

Bri found out she had ADHD while studying special education. Today she works with plenty neurodivergent youth.

Bitcoin: Building a dream or a dystopia?

In just over a decade, Bitcoin has gone from a dark web currency to a prominent topic in the 2024 U.S. presidential race. Its growth has been fast and unstoppable, but what does the future hold if this trend continues? And is this a future we want?

Seeking answers, Joep explored Bitcoin’s roots and its impact on society. What started as dabbling in Bitcoin and debating with friends and family led to a genuine inquiry into its morality. In this talk, he’ll attempt to offer a balanced take on whether a Bitcoin-dominated world is one he’d welcome or not.
